The open questions in the reviews

Sewer and pipeline-robot reviews usually place three things side by side: multi-sensor fusion, GNSS-denied localisation, and how results enter an asset system or digital twin. All three are required. A point cloud without gas cannot explain atmospheric risk. Video without an index cannot be re-inspected. A model score without human review has nowhere to put liability.

Atlas therefore keys on the segment, not the flight log. Crawler gap-fill and a future tethered observation should, in theory, merge into the same object. That requires an ICD and a data dictionary before a pretty 3D engine.

Version is part of the twin

Assisted defect models will change. Without model version, confidence and a change record, the twin will contradict the previous inspection after the second visit, and nobody can say whether the pipe changed or the algorithm did. G4’s closed test set and miss-case library are twin governance, not AI decoration. Until G4, do not advertise accuracy.

How to read this back to PipeGuardian

This article is industry education, not a pilot news item. If a vendor, university, funding scheme or standard appears, treat it as a contrast question: what must our own rig answer, and what must public copy forbid. Copying an external figure into a PipeGuardian spec sheet conflicts with the evidence page.

The English site carries the full method set: system architecture, safety bounds, target specifications, the 18-month roadmap and HK–SZ operations. Field work still starts with a permit and a recovery path. Reading an article is not a confined-space permit.

Citation discipline: External products, papers and government schemes in this article are industry contrast. They are not PipeGuardian test results, customer relationships or awarded funding. G4 is an internal evidence gate, not a published accuracy figure.
